Waarom testen?

This test allows the simultaneous detection of EHV-1 and EHV-4, supporting the diagnosis of horses with suspected Equine Herpesvirus infection.

Klinische tekenen

EHV-1 is a common cause of abortion in mares, weakness in the legs and death in newborn foals. Some horses become wobbly and weak. Horses that lie down and cannot get up have a poor outlook. Infected horses can also get a fever.

Transmissie

Mares can carry the virus and pass it to their foals. The virus can keep moving between mares and foals, even when the mares are vaccinated.

Preventie

Vaccination helps. In studies, vaccinated mares had far fewer abortions, and vaccinated foals were less sick and shed less virus. Vaccination does not stop every case.

✨ Neem het monster af: trek 20 tot 40 haren met wortel (bulbus) uit en plak ze in het gemarkeerde vak op het formulier, of laat uw dierenarts bloed afnemen in een K3-EDTA-buis.
